AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS 
 
 
Information for Primary Schools
 

 

Overview: PLAY ON! Theatre Clubs are led by Yve Harford-Brown (MA Drama & Theatre, BA Hons , Education, University of Warwick.) Yve is experienced in teaching drama to ages 4 -17  (Click here to view testimonials from local schools).  Yve is enthusiastic about using theatre skills to develop confidence and creativity with young people.

 

Success: PLAY ON! is successfully running at primary schools in the Midlands area in support of extra curricular aims and extended schools provision. References from schools currently hosting are available here.

 

Running time: 1 hour after school, once a week.

 

Term Length: Usually 10 consecutive weeks throughout the school term. 5 week starter course available.

 

Location: The school hall or other suitable space (e.g. music room/classroom).

 

Fees: No charge to the school. Parents pay £3.80 per week per child. 

 

Availability: Available to primary schools in the Midlands area, including Coventry, Warwickshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.

 

Club Content: The sessions include drama games, interactive storytelling, improvisation, mime, dance, theatre skills and vocal tuition. The sessions are fun, dynamic and designed to build confidence and creativity whilst developing drama and theatre techniques.

 

Presentations: Students have the opportunity to create a presentation for parents to celebrate their achievements. 

 

Resources: PLAY ON! provides the resources for sessions, including music and a PLAY BOX full of props/materials to support games, improvisations and interactive storytelling.

 

 

Club Size: Clubs are run in mixed age groups, with an average of 10-25 students. (Clubs need a minimum of 10 students to run). 

 

Behaviour: High levels of behaviour are expected and encouraged, to allow students to get the most out of the sessions. Awards are given for good performance and behaviour.

 

Health & Safety: All PLAY ON! Leaders are CRB checked. Insurance certificates are available to view here.

 

Starting Up: (1) Contact Yve on 01788 543760 / 07758 460 589 to choose a convenient week day for the running of the after-school club. (2) Distribute PLAY ON! booking forms to parents. (3) Providing there are around 10 pupils booked on, PLAY ON! Theatre Club will be ready to go on agreed start date.
